Bobbau is a district in the north of Bitterfeld-Wolfen in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Belonging to the industrial center Bitterfeld-Wolfen as well as the immediate proximity to the adjacent extensive floodplains in the glacial valley of the Mulde and Fuhne make the district of Bobbau a sought-after residential location. Due to the northern location to the industrial conurbation, the district is also free from air pollution, the adjacent landscape and nature reserve in the glacial valley of the Mulde offers many animals sufficient opportunities to spread.

Bobbau was first mentioned in a document in 1370, but has existed for much longer. The place name is of Slavic origin. Bobbau and its later district of Siebenhausen, both north of the Fuhne , historically always belonged to Anhalt, unlike Bitterfeld and Wolfen .

During one of the last fighting of the Second World War in April 1945, farms and houses were destroyed in Bobbau. At the war cemetery Bobbau there is a row grave with 73 known and unknown German soldiers buried there.

On July 1, 1950 Siebenhausen was incorporated into Bobbau.

The community Bobbau with the districts Bobbau and Siebenhausen was incorporated into the city of Bitterfeld-Wolfen on September 1, 2009.

Bobbau owns an active sports club, SV Anhalt Bobbau. It is divided into the areas of hiking, women's sports, line dancing and badminton . The first team in the badminton department currently plays in the State League Saxony-Anhalt.

Transport links

The area of ​​the district is cut through by the federal highway 184 , an access to the Autobahn A 9 is to the north without further through-town traffic over the B 184 in about seven minutes by car at the junction Dessau- Süd or via the Bitterfeld-Wolfener Autobahn connection to the south possible.
