Herbert W. Clutter

Herbert William Clutter (* 24. May 1911 in Gray County , † 15. November 1959 in Holcomb ) was a murder victim who by Truman Capote's novel In Cold Blood ( In Cold Blood was known).

Clutter, a wheat farmer from Kansas , was listed in the Distinguished Alumni Award of Kansas University for the years 1954/55 as a representative of the National Association of Wheat Growers, had made a career under President Dwight D. Eisenhower and built his own farm and gained wealth. He fell victim to the murderers Perry Edward Smith and Richard Eugene Hickock in 1959, along with his wife Bonnie and their two youngest children Nancy and Kenyon . The Clutters were, according to Harper Lee , "great Methodists ."

Film adaptations

In the film adaptation of the case, which was filmed in 1967 under the title Cold Blood by director Richard Brooks, the actor John McLiam took on the role of Herbert Clutter. In the 1996 miniseries of the same name, Kevin Tighe played the role of the family man. The character of Herb Clutter was also shown in the films Capote (2005) and Cold Blood - In the Footsteps of Truman Capote (2006).
