Heribert Mühlen

Heribert Mühlen (born April 27, 1927 in Mönchengladbach ; † May 25, 2006 ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Heribert Mühlen received his doctorate in 1951. phil. at Max Müller in Freiburg im Breisgau with the work "Being and Person after Johannes Duns Scotus ." On March 5, 1955, he was ordained a priest in Aachen . With the work "The Holy Spirit as Person" he received his doctorate in 1962 in Münster under H. Volk. theol.

In 1964 he completed his habilitation in Munich with the thesis “Una Mystica Persona. The church as a mystery of the identity of the Holy Spirit in salvation history in Christ and Christians. ”From 1962 he was a scientific assistant in Paderborn ; from April 1, 1964, full professor for dogmatics and the history of dogma at the Theological Faculty in Paderborn , where he taught until his retirement on September 30, 1997.

Mills was by Pope Paul VI. 1964 appointed council theologian at the 2nd Vatican Council ; after the council he was a member of the dialogue commissions of the Vatican Unity Secretariat .

Working for new evangelization and charismatic renewal

From 1971 Mühlen was committed to the renewal of church life based on the personal experience of the Holy Spirit , as it was expressed above all in blessing services and faith courses. He was close to the Charismatic Church Renewal, the Catholic branch of the Charismatic Movement . His concern was “a national personalization of the relationship with God.” His work was taken up in numerous dioceses and also formed an integral part of Catholic and Church Days. In 1984 H. Mühlen was a co-founder of the Catholic Evangelization Center Maihingen (KEM).

Mühlen was honored with the Sexau Community Prize for Theology in 1984 .
