career

The offensive player won in the Franconian baroque city with the blue-whites from the stadium on Frankfurter Strasse in the two rounds 1974/75 and 1975/76 in each case in the Bayern league . Since the champions Wacker Munich in 1976 renounced promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, the FV 04 moved up. Heribert Müller experienced the support of internationally experienced players through the newcomers Lothar Emmerich and Hans Schmidradner . FV 04 started the 1976/77 round with trainer Herbert Wenz on August 14, 1976 with a 1: 2 home defeat against FC Bayern Hof. On August 29, the first double point win was achieved with a 2-1 win against KSV Baunatal. After the eighth first round match (1: 2 home defeat against FSV Frankfurt) Heribert Müller was used on September 21, 1976 in Naestved in an international match of the German amateur national team against Denmark. He was substituted on for Winfried Stradt in the 1-0 victory of the DFB-Elf in the team around captain Egon Schmitt . FV 04 ended their debut round in the second division on May 21, 1977 under Wenz's successor Werner Bickelhaupt with a 1-1 draw at home against runner-up TSV Munich 1860. Müller had Siegfried Scherzer (goalkeeper), Schmidradner , at the side of his teammates , Walter Szaule , Friedhelm Groppe , Bernd Göbel , Heinz-Dieter Lömm , Emmerich and Hans-Otto Hiestermann completed 35 competitive games and scored two goals. Second division newcomer FV 04 Würzburg achieved relegation with 13th place.

In the second year in the 2nd Bundesliga, 1977/78, the rise of Kickers Würzburg resulted in a real local derby. On November 6, 1977, the two Würzburg rivals parted in a 2-2 draw in front of 13,000 spectators. On matchday 22, January 22, 1978, Müller and colleagues defeated Karlsruher SC with their top performers Karl-Heinz Struth , Rainer Ulrich , Rolf Dohmen and Wilfried Trenkel 2-0 in front of 9,000 spectators. The 1-0 lead achieved by Heribert Müller with an overhead kick in the 44th minute of the game was voted goal of the month in the ARD sports show. At the end of the round, the FV 04 with coach Rudi Kröner finished 11th. Müller had scored one goal in 31 games.

The 1978/79 season Heribert Müller was active at TuS Schloß Neuhaus in the amateur league of Westphalia. One point behind champions SC Herford, the Paderborn suburbs missed promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. Therefore he returned to the FV 04 in Würzburg for the 1979/80 season. His third round in the 2nd Bundesliga turned out to be a debacle. In the order of Dieter Feldhoff (up to 9/79), Heinz Bewersdorf (9 / 79-2 / 80), Helmut Siebert (2 and 3/80) and István Sztani (3-6 / 80) four coaches tried in vain the task of keeping the FV 04 in the 2nd division. In 40 association games it was only enough to six wins and nine draws. With 21:59 points, the Würzburger FV was relegated to the amateur camp. Heribert Müller had played in twelve games.
