Herlinde Pauer-Studer

Herlinde Pauer-Studer (* 1953 in Bludenz , Vorarlberg) is an Austrian philosopher and university professor at the University of Vienna . Her areas of specialization are ethics , political as well as analytical and feminist philosophy .

Life

Pauer-Studer studied philosophy at the University of Toronto (MA 1977) and the University of Salzburg (Mag. Phil. 1978). She received her doctorate in 1983 from the University of Salzburg and her habilitation took place in 1996 at the University of Vienna for philosophy as a whole.

From 1981 to 1985 Pauer-Studer was an assistant at the Institute for Legal Philosophy at the University of Graz and, in 1984, a lecturer at the University of California . In 1996/97 and 1997/98 she had research stays at Harvard University and in 2006 at New York University . In 1998 she was appointed Associate Professor at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Vienna, and in 2010 she was appointed University Professor for Practical Philosophy at the University of Vienna.

In 1993 Pauer-Studer received the Charlotte Bühler grant from the Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research (FWF) and then an APART grant from the Austrian Academy of Sciences in 1995 . In 2010 she received one of the ERC Advanced Grants from the European Commission for the first time and in 2017 for the second time . For 2017 she was awarded the City of Vienna Prize for the Humanities .

Her daughter Nada Ina Pauer is a successful long-distance runner.
