Herman van Swanevelt
Herman van Swanevelt (* 1600 in Woerden near Utrecht , † 1655 in Paris ) was a Dutch painter .
Svanevelt went to Paris in 1623, from there to Rome , where he lived until 1637, and then, after a short stay at home, settled in Paris in 1652, where he became a member of the Academy in 1653 and died in 1655.
He painted Italian landscapes in the manner of Claude Lorrain , which can mostly be found in the galleries of Rome and Florence , but also in those of Paris, Frankfurt am Main , Munich and The Hague . His landscape etchings, of which he left 116, are more outstanding.
