Hermann Bachmaier

Hermann Bachmaier (born July 5, 1939 in Crailsheim ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and lawyer . From 1983 to 2005 he was a member of the German Bundestag and since 1998 legal advisor of the SPD parliamentary group .

Bachmaier represented the Schwäbisch Hall - Hohenlohe constituency in the Bundestag and was always elected to parliament via the state list of the SPD Baden-Württemberg.

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Hermann Bachmaier studied history, politics and law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . After passing the second state examination in law, he founded a law firm in his hometown of Crailsheim.

In addition to his party membership, Bachmaier is also a member of the ver.di trade union (formerly the trade union trade, banks and insurance companies ), the workers ' welfare organization and the German lawyers' association .

Political offices

In 1969 Hermann Bachmaier joined the SPD. He became a member of the Bundestag for the first time in its tenth electoral term in 1983. In total, Hermann Bachmaier was a member of the German Bundestag for 22 years or 6 legislative periods from 1983 to 2005.

Until 1998 he was the deputy legal policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag. From October 1988 to 1990 he was chairman of the nuclear scandal investigation committee in the Bundestag. From April 1995 to June 1998, Bachmaier was spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the plutonium investigation committee and from November 1998 until he left the Bundestag in 2005, he was deputy chairman of the legal committee and legal advisor of the SPD parliamentary group.

In his last electoral term as a member of the Bundestag (2002 to 2005), he was deputy chairman of the legal committee . He was also a full member of the following committees and bodies:
