Hermann Bauer (born June 27, 1897 in Marburg an der Lahn ; † July 16, 1986 ) was a Hessian politician (LDP, the predecessor organization of the FDP Hessen ) and a member of the advisory state committee in Greater Hesse, a predecessor of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

Hermann Bauer was a book printer and printer owner in Marburg an der Lahn. Among other things, he published the daily newspaper Hessisches Tagblatt . During the time of National Socialism , the Tagblatt was banned and he was unable to continue his journalistic work due to his liberal convictions (he had been a member of the DDP in the Weimar Republic ) and was arrested twice and held in the concentration camp. From 1937 to 1945 he worked as a worker in a cigar factory.

After the Second World War , Hermann Bauer was one of the founders of the LDP. He was a member of the "State Political Committee" which held the function of the city council until the local elections in Hesse in 1946 . From February 26, 1946 to July 14, 1946, Hermann Bauer was a member of the (appointed) advisory state committee for the LDP.

In 1945 he was licensed by the American occupation forces (together with the Social Democrat Karl Bremer ) to publish the Marburger Presse , the second newspaper that was approved in Hesse, and published it until 1951.

In October 1946, Hermann Bauer resigned from his position as deputy chairman of the Marburg Chamber . He protested against what he thought was too harsh denazification of fellow travelers and the too mild treatment of the main perpetrators. His estate is in the Marburg City Archives.
