Hermann Beckh (politician)

Hermann Beckh (born October 15, 1832 in Nuremberg ; † April 2, 1908 there ) was a lawyer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Beckh was born as the son of Hermann Friedrich Beckh and attended the universities of Erlangen , Göttingen and Berlin from 1849 to 1854 and passed the legal state examination in 1856. First he was an accessist at the district courts of Nuremberg and Bayreuth , then at the court of appeal in Bamberg . He then worked as an unskilled worker at the Legislative Committee in Munich and a legal specialist in Nuremberg. In 1863 he was appointed as a lawyer in Lindau before moving to Nuremberg in 1870. In 1866, together with members of the Lindau Liederkranz association - armed with toy pistols - he occupied Achberg, then Prussian, for a few hours . This action earned him the nickname "Duke of Achberg". Beckh was a co-founder of the Progressive and German Liberal Party in Bavaria, of which he had been a member since 1864. Since 1881 he has been a member of the council of municipal representatives in Nuremberg, since 1886 district councilor and since 1893 district administrator for Middle Franconia. In 1896 he was appointed to the judiciary. He was also a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies from 1875 to 1881 and again from 1889 to 1893. In 1849 he belonged to the Erlangen fraternity Bubenruthia and in 1849 was one of the re-founders of the fraternity Germania Erlangen . In 1862 he co-founded the Franconian and German Singers' Associations, whose committees he has been a member since that time, as chairman since 1887.

From 1893 to 1903 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg-Gotha 1 Coburg and the Free People's Party .

His brother was the politician Friedrich Beckh .
