Friedrich Beckh

Friedrich Beckh (born October 24, 1843 in Nuremberg , † April 10, 1927 in Rathsberg near Erlangen) was a German agrarian , conservative politician and anti-Semite.

Life

Beckh was born as the son of Hermann Friedrich Beckh and Mathilde von Wahler and studied law and natural sciences in Erlangen , Heidelberg , Basel and Göttingen . In 1861 he became a member of the Germania Erlangen fraternity and in 1862 a member of the Allemannia Heidelberg fraternity . In the wars against Prussia and France he was promoted to lieutenant . In 1870, after a serious wound in France, he had to give up his military career. From then on he devoted himself to agriculture on estates in Saxony and Franconia and was involved in agricultural associations. From 1875 to 1909 he managed his parents' castle in Rathsberg and introduced new economic methods there.

Beckh became a member of the Electoral Association of the Bavarian Conservatives founded in 1881. In 1885 he and Friedrich Lutz founded the Mittelfränkischer Bauernverein, an agricultural interest group that was politically close to the conservatives. Beckh moved into the Bavarian State Parliament for the first time in 1887 , to which he belonged until 1918 with one interruption. In 1890 he became second chairman of the Conservative Party in Bavaria, and in 1894 he was promoted to first chairman. Beckh led the Bavarian Conservatives until 1918. Beckh was also a member of the Association of Farmers , which cooperated politically with the Conservative Party. He was temporarily the first chairman of the Bavarian Association of Farmers.

In his parliamentary speeches, Beckh compared the Jews who immigrated from Galicia, Austria, to vine pests and vermin that could be removed.

His brother was the politician Hermann Beckh .
