Hermann Bridge

Hermann Brücke (* 1830 in Berlin , † 1871 in Pisa , Kingdom of Italy ) was a German genre , history and portrait painter .

Brücke was the son of the Berlin drawing teacher, portrait and history painter Johann Gottfried Brücke . His half-brother was the physician Ernst Wilhelm von Brücke , his uncle the painter Wilhelm Brücke .

Brücke received artistic training from his father. From 1847 to 1849 he was a student at the Berlin Academy . He later studied with Paul Delaroche in Paris and with Louis Gallait in Brussels . From December 1856 to 1861 he stayed in Rome , where he was a member of the German Artists' Association and in 1857 took part in its "Cervarofest". He then worked as a painter in Berlin and was a member of the board of the Berlin Artists Association .
