Hermann Heinrich Josef Goebel (born April 8, 1885 in Dormagen , † March 9, 1945 in Dobel , Calw district ) was a German painter.

Life

From 1905 to 1910 he studied at the Grand Ducal Baden State Art School in Karlsruhe with Ludwig Schmid-Reutte , from 1907 he was a master student of Wilhelm Trübner . During his studies he made trips to Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain. 1910 move to Heimsheim , 1912 travel to Chioggia and Venice. In 1914 he became a member of the Free Secession Berlin . From 1914 to 1918 he participated in the war. In 1918 the company moved to Ettlingen. In 1920 he became professor and head of a master class at the State Art School in Karlsruhe. 1922 move to Karlsruhe. 1924 trip to Italy, Spain, southern France, the Bavarian lakes and the North Sea. 1927 board member of the " Baden Secession ". 1928 trip to Paris. From 1929 to 1932 he was director of the Karlsruhe State Art School, from 1935 onwards there were frequent stays in Dobel in the Black Forest. 1938 trip to Sylt. In 1942, after joining the NSDAP, he was appointed civil servant for life. In 1944 around 250 works were burned in a bombing raid. Above all, Goebel created landscapes in southwest Germany, with a preference for Lake Constance, the Neckar Valley and the Odenwald, portraits and still lifes . Stylistically, his early works can be ascribed to Art Nouveau , his later, color-intensive works show an influence by Expressionism . Hermann Goebel was a member of the German Association of Artists . He died of pneumonia .
