Hermann Hirzel (Abbot)

Hermann Hirzel († 1480 in Muri ) was a Swiss Benedictine monk . From 1465 until his death he was abbot of the Muri monastery in the free offices (in today's canton of Aargau ).

Hirzel is said to have been born in Pfäffikon in 1388 . He is mentioned for the first time in a monastic land register from 1445. He was elected abbot on April 9, 1465 and confirmed three weeks later by Burkhard II von Randegg , Bishop of Constance . The city of Bremgarten made the abbot and convent into citizenship in 1475.
