Origin and family
Hemann Ketteler came from the Westphalian noble family Ketteler , from which numerous well-known personalities have emerged. He was the son of Dülmen Drosten Konrad Ketteler zu Altassen. His mother Margarethe von Beesten was the heir to the Sythen family , which remained in the possession of the Ketteler family until the transfer of inheritance to the von Galen family. Hermann's cousin Konrad Ketteler was canon of Münster from 1553 to 1590.
Act
On April 6, 1553, Hermann received a cathedral praise from Münster , which he renounced on December 22nd . After a renewed presentation by Dietrich Ketteler, it was presented in 1559 and emancipated the following year. With the receipt of the tonsure in 1561, Hermann should be prepared for a clerical office. However, he gave up in the same year. In 1577 he married Adelheid von Diepenbrock. The children Johann Vollrath (* 1590, State Secretary and Mayor of Pewsum) and the Münster canons Hermann , Wilhelm , Rembert , Dietrich and Konrad (later Herr zu Assen) emerged from the marriage.
