Hermann Latherus
Hermann Latherus (born March 5, 1583 in Husum ; † April 9, 1640 there ) was a German lawyer.
Life
Coming from a middle-class background, Latherus studied from 1599 at the University of Wittenberg and at the University of Marburg . Then he went on an educational trip. He visited Cologne , Freiburg , Basel , Strasbourg , Leipzig , Tübingen and obtained his doctorate in law at the University of Heidelberg in 1606 . He then settled as a lawyer in his hometown and gained a high reputation. He was married to Christina Gutslof.
His writing De censu, tractatus nomico-politicus (Frankfurt 1618, 1651, 1668, 1687), in which he mainly denounces the Roman Catholic Church and which work was put on the index for it, is important.
