Hermann Oetting (born March 27, 1937 in Gladbeck ) is a German engineer and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Oetting was born the son of a pastor. After graduating from high school in Dorsten , he first completed internships in Bad Oeynhausen and Athens . In 1956 he began studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig , which he completed in 1963 with the examination to become a qualified engineer. From 1963 to 1969 he was a research associate and assistant at the Institute for Piston Machines at the TU Braunschweig, before becoming a Dr.-Ing. PhD. In 1969 he took up a job as an employee at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg . Here he dealt with the area of ​​development and research. He later became head of the combustion technology subdivision at the Volkswagen factory.

Political party

Oetting has been a member of the SPD since 1960. He was elected chairman of the SPD district association Braunschweig-Stadt in 1970 and was later deputy chairman of the SPD district there.

MP

Oetting was a council member for the city ​​of Braunschweig from 1968 to 1971 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from October 19, 1971, when he replaced the deceased member of parliament Rudi Lotze , until 1976. He first moved into parliament via the Lower Saxony state list and represented the Braunschweig constituency from 1972 to 1976 .
