Hermann Petersen (politician, 1844)
Hermann Petersen (born October 5, 1844 in Oldenburg in Holstein ; † May 1, 1917 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer, judge and politician . He was Schwarzburg-Special House Minister of State .
Life
Born the son of a lawyer, Petersen studied law in Kiel and Leipzig after attending grammar school in Glückstadt . During his studies in 1863 he became a member of the Teutonia fraternity in Kiel . In 1870 he was seriously wounded in the Franco-Prussian War near Gravelotte . After completing his studies, he became a local judge in Altona and later in Hamburg. In 1887 he became a senior councilor and voting member of the Princely Schwarzburgisch-Sondershausen Ministry. He was in charge of the departments for church and school matters, for justice, and later for the interior. He was also the director of the state hospital . In 1888 he was appointed to the State Council and from 1889 headed the State Ministry and the First Department. From 1890 he was Schwarzburg-Sondershäusischer State Minister. He became a real secret council and was an authorized representative to the federal council . In 1909 he retired.
