Hermann Petz (born September 19, 1961 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian publisher . He is CEO of Moser Holding AG, the largest publishing house in Tyrol .

Hermann Petz worked from 1981 to 1990 in the areas of organization and IT, investments and special financing at the Tiroler Sparkasse and during this time completed his studies in social and economic sciences at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck .

In 1990 he joined the Tiroler Tageszeitung group as an assistant to the management . The Tiroler Tageszeitung is still the daily newspaper with the greatest circulation in the state of Tyrol. In 1992, Hermann Petz took over commercial management. Five years later he was appointed to the board of management, in 2002 Petz took over the overall operational responsibility of Moser Holding AG, since 2003 he has been chairman of the board. His contract was extended in 2010 to the end of 2016.

Hermann Petz is a member of the board and the presidium of the Association of Austrian Newspapers (VÖZ), Chairman of the Board of the Austria Press Agency (APA) and Austria delegate of the European Newspaper Publishers Association (ENPA).

Hermann Petz is married to Carmen Petz and has three grown children and two grandchildren.

Petz is the author of the book "The newspaper is dead? Long live the newspaper!" Published in June 2015. As researched by Markus Wilhelm , Petz is said to have copied parts of the book from online portals and from media scholars without citing the source. Even the book title was used in an essay in the Süddeutsche Zeitung in 2010 with the same headline. Austrian leading media and also the indirectly affected Süddeutsche Zeitung reported on the plagiarism allegations from Wilhelm. In this context, it is also remarkable and much criticized that the Tyrolean daily newspaper run by Petz uses the research of Markus Wilhelm in its coverage of political scandals, of all things , without mentioning him or his blog www.dietiwag.org by name.
