Hermann Quien

Hermann Quien (born October 31, 1940 in Danzig ; † July 14, 2009 ) was a German SPD politician and was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt from 1991 until the state election in 2002 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Quien began studying German and art history at the University of Leipzig and graduated as an upper school teacher with the state examination. He then worked as a German teacher and art educator at a POS in Weißenfels . After the fall of the Berlin Wall , he worked at the round table in the city of Weißenfels.

Political party

In December 1989 he joined the Social Democratic Party in the GDR (SDP) and was a founding member of the Weissenfels base group. Quien was a member of the SPD district executive committee in Weißenfels for many years .

MP

Quien was a member of the first freely elected People's Chamber in the GDR. From 1991 to 2002 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . In 1991 he replaced the late Walter Schindel . As a member of the state parliament, he represented the constituency of Hohenmölsen - Weißenfels . He did not run again for the 2002 election. Quien was Chairman of the Labor, Health and Social Affairs Committee and a member of the Petitions Committee.
