Hermann Reichl

Hermann Reichl (born March 13, 1937 in Steyr ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and mechanical engineer. Reichl was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament from 1967 to 1973 and a regional councilor in the Upper Austrian state government from 1973 to 1990 . He has been married since 1961 and has two children.

education and profession

After completing compulsory school in 1952, Reichl attended the higher technical college, specializing in mechanical engineering, in Steyr, which he completed in 1957 with the Matura. He then worked for three years in a VÖEST design office and joined the city of Steyr in 1960. From 1969 Reichl was employed there as technical operations manager.

politics

Reichl was socialized early on in the social democratic party and was a member of the Rote Falken and Kinderfreunde , for which he later also worked on the federal executive committee. At the beginning of the 1970s he was also active in the trade union and held the function of chairman of the Steyr-Stadt district group in the union of community employees. In 1972 he was elected deputy SPÖ district party chairman of Steyr, in 1974 he took over the office of district party chairman, which he held until 1990. In addition, he was elected to the state party executive in 1973 and was regional party chairman of the SPÖ from April 1973 to 1990. Furthermore, from 1973 Reichl held the position of chairman of the supervisory board of Dachstein-Tourismus-AG and from 1976 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Ennskraftwerke AG .

Reichl represented the SPÖ from November 17, 1967 to November 15, 1973 in the Upper Austrian state parliament and succeeded Franz Enge as a regional councilor in the Wenzl I state government on March 23, 1973 . Subsequently, he also belonged to the state governments of Wenzl II and Ratzenböck I , II and III , where he was responsible for energy law, water law, transport and social affairs (youth welfare, victim welfare, social welfare, social welfare agencies). His agendas also included torrent control, parts of forestry matters, price determination and price monitoring. On November 6, 1990, Reichl resigned from the state government.
