Hermann Schwamm (born January 4, 1900 in Wattenheim , † August 19, 1954 in Landau in the Palatinate ) was a German priest and Roman Catholic theologian.

Life

He was the son of a teacher, did military service from August to November 1918 and studied philosophy and theology at the Pontificia Universitas Gregoriana from 1919 to 1928 . After his ordination in 1928 and his doctorate in the same year, Schwamm researched medieval manuscripts at the Bavarian State Library from 1929 to 1932 in preparation for his habilitation thesis . Then he worked as a priest of the diocese of Speyer . In 1932 he became cathedral vicar in Speyer , 1933–1939 reigning the seminary of Maria Rosenberg .

In 1932 he completed his habilitation (1932) in dogmatics and the history of dogmas at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . 1936-1940 he worked there as Chair representatives, 1940 was deprived by the Reich Ministry of Science, Education and Culture , the teaching license . From 1946 to 1954 Hermann Schwamm worked as a professor for apologetics and religious studies in Mainz .
