Hermann Singer (economist)

Hermann Singer (* 1954 ) is a German economist and statistician .

Life

He studied physics and mathematics in Ulm , Cambridge and Berlin . He graduated in 1980 on a topic from statistical mechanics, with a focus on: statistical mechanics, quantum theory, solid state physics, probability theory, functional analysis. He studied psychology and sociology in Konstanz (diploma 1986 on a subject from clinical psychology, focus: quantitative and qualitative methods (panel analysis, ethnomethodology, objective hermeneutics, psychoanalysis), clinical psychology, medical sociology). He was a research assistant in a psychiatric research project (family care, SFB 129, Ulm University , PLK Weissenau). After receiving his doctorate in statistics (1990), he worked as a research assistant in the DFG project Continuous Panel Models (Head: Alfred Hamerle , Willi Nagl). He was a research assistant at the Chair of Statistics at the University of Regensburg (Alfred Hamerle). He was an academic adviser at the Department of Statistics (from 1993: entrusted with the training of statistics and methodology for psychologists, sociologists, political scientists and geographers). After the habilitation in statistics at the economics faculty in Regensburg (1998): Continuously discrete state space models. Using stochastic differential equations in econometrics and empirical capital market research, he was authorized to teach statistics and was appointed private lecturer . In 2001 he accepted the chair for Applied Statistics and Methods of Empirical Social Research at the FernUniversität Hagen . He was Dean of the Faculty of Economics from May 2013 to April 2015.
