Hermann Zimmer

Hermann Zimmer (born October 8, 1867 in Ocklitz , Wroclaw district ; † April 22, 1928 in Breslau ) was a German trade unionist and social democratic politician. Most recently he was President of the Prussian Province of Lower Silesia .

Zimmer worked as a tailor, but also as an elevator operator, supplier, warehouse keeper and as an employee of a health insurance company. From 1899 to 1918 Zimmer was employed by the Gauleiter of the German Transport Workers' Union for Silesia . He was also chairman of the union agitation committee for the area from 1907 to 1914. In Breslau, Zimmer was the SPD's shop steward between 1900 and 1906. In addition, since 1914 he was a member of the city council and chairman of the local health insurance fund for merchants. Various candidacies for the Reichstag failed.

During the November Revolution , Zimmer was a member of the People's Council for Lower Silesia and a representative of this council at the High Presidium in Wroclaw. Between 1919 and 1920 he was the administrative director of the AOK Breslau.

Subsequently, Zimmer was Upper President of the Province of Lower Silesia based in Wroclaw until his death.

In addition, Zimmer was a member of the Prussian state constituent assembly between 1919 and 1921 .
