Hermann von Löhner

Hermann von Löhner (born April 27, 1842 in Vienna ; † May 19, 1905 there ) was an Austrian playwright and literary historian .

The son of the politician Ludwig von Löhner and grandson of Joseph Löhner studied law at the University of Vienna and began to work as a journalist. At the same time Löhner was a private scholar, secretary at theaters and wrote works for the stage. He translated well-known French and Italian plays into German, which were then performed at the Vienna Burgtheater . From 1878 to 1894 he lived in Modena, Italy . His estate is in the Vienna City and State Archives .
