Hermine von Siegstädt , actually Procháska, Edle von Siegstädt ( 1844 in Vienna - after 1883) was an Austrian opera singer with a soprano voice . In 1864 she was educated at the k. u. k. Committed to court opera in Vienna and remained committed there until 1882. Her further fate is unknown.

life and work

The singer was the daughter of k. u. .k. Lieutenant Colonel Anton Prochaska, Edler von Siegstädt (died 1875). She had at least three sisters, Marie, Louise and Emilie.

In 1864, at the age of twenty, she was engaged as an apprentice at the Vienna Court Opera. In 1867 she became a regular member of the ensemble and stayed that way until December 1882. Kutsch / Riemens write about her: “Her name deserves to be mentioned above all because she premiered the opera Die Königin von Saba by Karl Goldmark on March 10, 1875 created the role of Astaroth (with the famous "lure") of the Vienna Court Opera. "

Hermine von Siegstädt also sang a wide-ranging repertoire at the Court Opera, as far as one can already see, as the archive of the Vienna State Opera has not yet been fully processed. She took on central roles such as Venus, Princess Eudoxie and the Marzellinen in Beethoven's Fidelio and Cherubini's Water Carrier , as well as a number of smaller roles. In the Viennese premieres of Wagner's Ring des Nibelungen she was involved as Rhine daughter Woglinde and as Valkyrie Helmwige. In subsequent performances, she also took on the voice of the forest bird in Siegfried . Siegstädt sang French, Italian and German repertoire. Siegstädt was mentioned again after she left the Vienna Court Opera in 1883, but then every trace of her is lost.
