Herr Blumfisch Explodiert is an 11-minute German film drama from the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy , which consists exclusively of computer animation , from 2003.

action

The action takes place in the fictional settlement of Dittmold on the outskirts of Bielefeld in 1998. In the style of a TV report, which is presented like an episode of the series Aktenzeichen XY , the strange story of the insurance employee Harald Blumfisch, who is there with his wife Elsa lived in a family home. One day Harald Blumfisch exploded due to unexplained circumstances. The daily routine on which the accident happened is reproduced in minute detail.

The investigating officers are puzzling what the cause of the accident is. Was Harald Blumfisch a crook in the end, entangled in dark business? The investigation largely fizzled out, Harald Blumfisch was buried with a manageable number of mourners (strictly speaking, in addition to the parish priest, only his wife and a neighbor were present), the pastor spoke the usual empty phrases.

The plot ends with the reporter's sarcastic words: "How did such a terrible catastrophe come about, and who cares?"

performance

Herr Blumfisch explodiert has been shown at more than 30 film festivals in Germany as well as in other European and non-European countries, including the FilmKunstFest Schwerin , the Max Ophüls Preis film festival in Saarbrücken , and at film festivals in Moscow , Paris , Riga and Rio de Janeiro .
