Herrgottsruhkapelle (Lauingen)
The Catholic Herrgottsruhkapelle in Lauingen , a town in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube , was built in 1750. The chapel on the northern edge of the terrace of the Danube valley in the direction of Dillingen an der Donau is a protected architectural monument .
history
Predecessor buildings of the Herrgottsruhkapelle existed in various places. The present chapel was built in 1750 by Joseph Hieber.
architecture
The central building with a tent roof is crowned by a six-sided lantern with an onion hood . The building with a transversely oval exterior floor plan has a wall structure with high round arched panels between pilaster strips , above which is a vaulted cornice . Over the northern portal and on the south side there are niche-framed, three-part windows. The interior floor plan consists of an elongated quatrefoil . The side rooms are covered with a barrel vault, the main room has a hollow vault .
Furnishing
The frescos were created in 1791 by Johann Baptist Enderle . In the choir , the chalice , host and the book with seven seals are depicted between two angels . In the church you can see Christ in glory and below a cross and the holy penitents.
