history
At the beginning of the 19th century, Herrin was on Lusks Ferry Road, a then important road as a supply link that connected the Ohio River with Fort Kaskaskia . The city gained notoriety in 1922 when a total of 3 company executives and 19 strike breakers were killed in a mine workers' strike.
