Herschdorf is a district of the municipality of Krölpa in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

geography

Herschdorf is about four kilometers north of the locality of Krölpa . From a geological point of view, the corridor is located on red sandstone and shell limestone weathered soils of the Saale-Orlaplatte . The corridors of Hütten and Herschdorf are located in a larger forest area around Friedebach, somewhat away from public life.

The village lies in a depression on the ridge of the Vorderen Heide.

history

Herschdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1349. In the course of the centuries several different spellings appeared which are associated with Herschdorf: In 1540 the name "Gersdorf" was used for the first time in connection with the present-day village. "Horsdorf" or "Herßdorf" was also used later. On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Hütten was incorporated into Herschdorf, and on January 1, 1997, it was incorporated into Krölpa.

In addition to Herschdorf there was a second village on the height between Herschdorf and Friedebach, which was called "Oberherrschdorf". Today the place is completely covered with forest. The name Herschdorf was derived from "Hirschdorf". Hirschdorf is an ingenious name, because the deer once preferred to stay on our wooded heights.
