Petr Kalus (born June 29, 1987 in Ostrava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with SHC Fassa in the Italian A1 series since summer 2012 .

Career

Petr Kalus began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HC Vítkovice , for whose professional team he made his debut in the extra league in the 2004/05 season . In his only mission he remained unpunished and punished. He was then selected in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as the 39th player of the Boston Bruins . The winger initially played for the Regina Pats in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League for a year and scored 40 goals and 23 assists in 66 games for the Canadians. In the regular season he was the top scorer of all rookies in the WHL with 36 goals . In the 2006/07 season he made his debut for Boston in the National Hockey League , in which he scored four goals in nine games and was an assist. However, he spent the entire rest of the season with their farm team Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League .

On July 1, 2007, Kalus was given by the Boston Bruins in exchange for a four-round vote for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft to the Minnesota Wild . In the following years he was only used for their AHL farm team Houston Eros . In the 2008/09 season , the left shooter also played for HK MWD Balaschicha in the newly founded Continental Hockey League , in which he prepared two goals in 17 games. He then returned to the farm team in Houston, for which he scored 23 points scorer in 66 games in the following season , including twelve goals. Due to good performance, he was for the Minnesota Wild in the same season two more times in the NHL on the ice. The Czech started the 2010/11 season with the Houston Eros in the AHL before he was transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets from the NHL in March 2011 . They also turned him over to their AHL farm team Springfield Falcons for the rest of the season .

At the end of the season, his NHL contract ran out and Kalus received a trial contract with Jokerit Helsinki . For Jokerit, he played three games in the European Trophy 2011 , but was not given a place in the club's squad. In early September 2011, Kalus was signed by HC Slavia Prague from the Czech extra league. In mid-January 2012, his contract was terminated after he was no longer regularly used, and switched to the Elitserien to MODO Hockey . In the summer of 2012 he switched to the Italian A1 series , where he signed with SHC Fassa .

International

For the Czech Republic , Kalus took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior World Championship 2005 and the U20 Junior World Championship 2006 . In the senior sector he was only in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2008 .
