Hertha Schober-Awecker

Hertha Schober-Awecker (born August 18, 1922 in Salzburg ; † 1989 ) was an Austrian historian who published mainly on the settlement and social history of Upper Austria .

Life

She came to Linz as a child , attended elementary and middle school there and then studied in Graz , interrupted by military service and imprisonment. While working on her dissertation entitled Abolition of the Mondsee Monastery , she came into contact with the Upper Austrian State Archives and its scientists and met her future husband, the local researcher Friedrich Schober , whom she married in 1960.

Her work at the cultural office of the City of Linz from 1950 to 1960 included working on the great Linz Regestenwerk, which was published in 1964 as Linzer Regesta and Handwritten Sources on the History of the City of Linz in Upper Austrian archives .

In 1961 she joined the Mühlviertler Künstlergilde , ran the business from 1962 to 1968 and worked on the editorial team and as an author for the Mühlviertler Heimatblatt , and was finally president of the artists' association from 1968 to 1972.

Fonts

As a historian, Schober-Awecker focused on settlement, economic and social history and published articles partly in newspapers, partly in periodicals such as in the year books of the city of Linz, in the Upper Austrian homeland papers , in the Mühlviertel homeland papers . Her first independent book was published in 1952 about Mondsee .
