Friedrich Schober (born October 4, 1904 in Grein ; † November 12, 1971 in Linz ) was an Austrian historian who published mainly on the settlement and social history of Upper Austria .

Life

Friedrich Schober first worked under Hermann Ubell in the Upper Austrian State Museum , then as an archivist with Ignaz Zibermayr in the Upper Austrian State Archives . His first major work was done in 1936 on the bathing system in Hallstatt , from where Schober's first wife Viktorine Löcker came from. The Second World War interrupted Schober's activity because he had to enter Belgium and France as a soldier . After that, under difficult conditions, he brought out the homeland books on Unterweißbach (1948), Königswiesen (1952) and Weitersfelden (1954). Apart from drawings for his own work, he illustrated publications by his later second wife Hertha Schober-Awecker and works by Georg Grüll .
