Hessenhagen is an inhabited part of the municipality Flieth-Stegelitz in the Uckermark district in Brandenburg .

The place is on the state road L 241 and on the northwestern edge of the nature reserve Poratzer Morain Landscape .

history

Hessenhagen was first mentioned in a document in 1269, the place name can be interpreted as "clearing settlement of a man named Hesse". In 1484 the place fell into desolation and remained in this state for a long time. It was not until the 18th century that the von Arnim in Hessenhagen had a sheep farm, brickworks and fishery and several residential buildings built.

Until December 31, 2001, Hessenhagen was part of the municipality of Stegelitz , since then the settlement has belonged to the municipality of Flieth-Stegelitz .
