Hessisch-Waldeckischer Gebirgs- und Heimatverein (HWGHV) (full name Hessisch-Waldeckischer Gebirgs- und Heimatverein (Gesamtverein) ) is a hiking and homeland association in Northern Hesse . It is entered in the register of associations at the Kassel District Court (VR 679).

The HWGHV was founded on August 27, 1883 as the Cassel tourist association and shortly thereafter renamed the Niederhessischer tourist association . From 1916 the association operated as the Hessischer Gebirgsverein and from 1929 as the Hessisch-Waldeckischer Gebirgsverein . Since 1953 the association has had its current name Hessisch-Waldeckischer Gebirgs- und Heimatverein .

45 independent local and hiking clubs from North Hesse are represented in the HWGHV. He is a member of the German Hiking Association .

The HWGHV and its affiliated associations oversee nature-friendly hiking over 9,000 km of marked hiking trails such as the Löwenweg , Wildbahn , Frau-Holle -pfad , Barbarossaweg , Bonifatiusweg , student path , Ederhöhenweg and Lulluspfad as well as the Kellerwaldsteig circular path , as far as it is in his Area lie. The route for the club area is designed and marked across the board by the club . Correspondingly, we work together with the Hessian land surveying office, map publishers and tourist associations. Furthermore, in this context he trains hiking guides and is involved in promoting local culture and local history.

The association publishes the association magazine Der Hessische Gebirgsbote every quarter .
