The Kellerwaldsteig is an approximately 156 km long circular hiking trail in the northern Hessian districts of Waldeck-Frankenberg and Schwalm-Eder , which runs particularly in the Kellerwald and leads around the Edersee .

The path is located in the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park and in stages also in the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park . It is divided into twelve stages. His waymark is a white K on a red background. The main route leads through unspoilt beech forests , idyllic stream valleys, over wooded mountain ridges and passes numerous attractions in the region. The southern part runs through the Kellerwald and the northern part around the Edersee. More than half of the route consists of natural paths and paths. In some sections, the trail runs along the student path and the Edersee Urwaldsteig .

  6. Kleinern - Hüddingen (approx. 11.5 km)
  7. Hüddingen - Odershausen (approx. 8.5 km)
  8. Odershausen - Armsfeld - Berg Freiheit (approx. 10.5 km)
  9. Berg Freiheit - Bad Zwesten (approx. 11.5 km)
  10. Bad Zwesten - Löwenstein ruins - Wüstegarten - Densberg (approx. 18.5 km)
  11. Densberg - Hundskopf - Schönstein Castle ruins - Battenhausen (approx. 19 km)
  12. Battenhausen - Haina Monastery - Löhlbach - Frankenau (approx. 18.5 km)

Byways

In addition to the main path of the Kellerwaldsteig, there is a 5 km long cross-connection between Frankenau and Hüddingen, which allows the division into a north and a south route. In the north-western part between Frankenau and Asel there is an alternative route via Schmittlotheim and Asel-Süd, which leads through the west of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park and passes the Quernstkapelle .
