Odershausen is a district of the city of Bad Wildungen in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg and a state-approved resort .

Geographical location

Odershausen is located south of the core town of Bad Wildungen in the eastern part of the Kellerwald-Edersee nature park in northern Hesse . The Kellerwaldsteig and the Lullus Path run through the village, which is surrounded by forest . The federal highway 253 and the federal highway 485 meet on the south-eastern edge of the town .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1309. At that time the place name was "Ortishusen". Barrows suggest a settlement in the late Bronze Age .

In 1927 Odershausen belonged to the Bad Wildungen district court and the Corbach tax office. In 1933 the village had a total of 453 inhabitants.

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Bad Wildungen as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

On May 8, 2016, a new world record was set with a collection of 1,430 vintage tractors.

Sights and culture

Jägersburg

The Jägersburg , a small hunting lodge built by Prince Friedrich Anton Ulrich von Waldeck -Pyrmont in 1718 and demolished in 1862 , was once located near the village . Today the former castle garden is designated as a large natural monument Jägersburg; the area serves as a bird protection tree.

Living museum

The Living Museum was set up from 1991 to 1997 in the middle of the village in two large barns on two farms. One of them is one of the oldest buildings in the village, built in 1741, and was part of the Meyer family's farm for many years. The other barn, mentioned in old records as early as 1758, was part of the Debes family farm and owned for over 200 years.

In these more than 250-year-old barns in the middle of the village, traditional, agricultural working methods and old craft trades from earlier times are to be presented, cared for and thus saved from being forgotten.

Infrastructure

In Odershausen there is a primary school , a kindergarten and a volunteer fire brigade .
