Hieber's Freshness Center KG is a regional retail chain belonging to Edeka Südwest and headquartered in Lörrach in the south-west of Baden-Württemberg .
history
In 1966, the trained confectioner Jörg Hieber opened his first own grocery store with 50 square meters of sales area in the 1,500-inhabitant village of Steinen-Höllstein , in which two predecessors already had two predecessors , because he couldn't find a lender to take over a pastry shop due to insufficient equity despite a long search failed. The first successes came when Hieber also manufactured confectionery and offered them at the Edeka in- house exhibitions . Up to 1985 there were ups and downs until shortly before the bankruptcy, but later it grew again to its present size. At the beginning of 2010 Jörg Hieber retired from the operative business in his company and took over the chairmanship of the advisory board. His son Dieter Hieber has been a personally liable partner since the beginning of 2010.
Companies
Today (as of 2018) the company consists of 13 stores, from Hieber's Lädele in Wyhlen with 500 square meters of sales area to the 5800 square meter supermarket Hieber’s Freshness Center in Grenzach. The eleventh store opened in Bad Krozingen in 2011 . The stores have a total of over 13,000 square meters of sales area (as of 2009). With around 540 employees, including almost 100 trainees, the chain has an annual turnover of 116.3 million euros (as of 2009) and is one of the largest employers in the region.
A special feature of the Lörrach flagship is its own small in-house brewery that produces several types of natural market beer . For wine drinkers, the company offers over 3000 types of wine and its own wine club with wine tours, wine seminars, etc.
Social Commitment
The company acts as a sports sponsor. The proceeds of the annual Tour de Hieber cycling event go to the participating regional sports clubs. Furthermore, Hieber organizes the regional running sport event Hieber Lauftag . On August 6, 2009 the company also established the Hieber Foundation to promote regional sports projects and for charitable purposes. This dependent trust foundation with no legal capacity is integrated into the Pro-Regio-Stiftung of Sparkasse Lörrach-Rheinfelden , which takes over the administration.
Awards
The Hieber company, the Hieber stores and their management have already received numerous awards, including the Goldener Zuckerhut industry Oscar in 1997 , trainer of the year in 2006 , and supermarket of the year several times (1994 and 2004 Lörrach, 1998 Weil am Rhein, 2001 Schopfheim, 2009 Grenzach) , Sales Cup (award for marketing strategy; 1997 Binzen, 1999 Schopfheim, 2000 and 2004 the entire company).
