Highland Village is a city in Denton County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located in northeast Texas on Lake Lewisville , 33 km northwest of Dallas , in the south of the county, is approximately 80 km north of Oklahoma and has a total area of 16.6 km², of which 2.3 km² is water.

According to the census in 2000 , 12,173 people lived here in 3,874 households and 3,552 families. The population density was 851.5 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 94.21% White, 1.47% African American, 0.40% Native American, 1.92% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, and 0.80% other ethnic groups. About 1.18% were mixed race and 3.46% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 3,874 households, 53.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 85.3% of them were married couples living together. 4.5% were single mothers and 8.3% were non-families. 6.6% of all households were single households and there were people living in 1.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.14 and the average family size was 3.29 people.
