Hilde Schulte

Hilde Schulte (* 1941 ) is a German patient self-help functionary. She earned herself the acceptance of patient representatives in the medical profession and in health policy.

Life

Hilde Schulte worked as a home manager in Hanover . At the age of 48 she developed breast cancer . She got involved in the association for women self-help after cancer , where she was soon elected to the state board of Hesse and in 1999 to the national board. From 2003 to 2009 she was chairwoman of the federal association. Schulte brought about an expansion of women's self-help activities in the direction of health policy, science, health insurance companies and other self-help groups. As a representative of self-help she was co-author of the S3 guidelines “Breast Cancer Early Detection” and “Diagnosis, Therapy and Follow-up Care of Breast Cancer”. Schulte worked on the Federal Joint Committee , on the National Cancer Plan and on the Certification Commission for Breast Centers of the German Cancer Society .

In 2004 Schulte was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . In 2009 she received - together with Gerhard Englert - the German Cancer Aid Prize for her commitment to cancer patients . In 2014, the German Cancer Society honored her for her voluntary work at the German Cancer Congress . As a member of the scientific advisory board for several years, she is an honorary member of the German Society for Senology .
