Courtney Lyn Hurley (born September 30, 1990 in Houston ) is an American sword fencer .

successes

Courtney Hurley won the title seven times with the team at Pan American Championships. She won the individual title in 2012 and 2013, and she also secured four more silver and bronze medals across all competitions. She also won gold in singles at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro . Four years later she also reached the final in Guadalajara , in which she had to admit defeat this time. With the team, however, you managed to win another title. In 2018 she became world champion with the team in Wuxi and also won the bronze medal in the individual. Hurley took part in two Olympic Games : in 2012 she finished 22nd in the individual in London . In the team competition, she reached the semi-finals with the US team, which were lost to South Korea . The final battle for third place against Russia ended at 31:30 in favor of the Americans, who, in addition to Hurley, also included Susie Scanlan , Maya Lawrence and her sister Kelley Hurley . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she finished the individual competition in 23rd place and the team competition in seventh place. She was trained by Paul Pesthy, among others .

Hurley studied at the University of Notre Dame , for which she was also active in college sports. She graduated with a degree in film, television and theater in 2013 .
