Hildegard Kurt
Hildegard Kurt (born September 20, 1958 in Worms ) is a German cultural scientist , sustainability researcher and author .
Live and act
Hildegard Kurt first studied German and Romance languages in Münster , Aix-en-Provence and Mainz . In 1998, supported by a grant from the Heinrich Böll Foundation , she completed her doctorate in cultural studies with Thomas Macho and Hartmut Böhme in Berlin on The New Muse. Impulses from art to overcome the consumer culture. She was married to the writer and photographer Kemal Kurt until his death in 2002 .
In 2004 Kurt co-founded the und.Institute for Art, Culture and Future Viability eV in Berlin and has been managing it since then (from 2011 to 2018 together with Jaana Liisa Prüss ). She took on expert activities and a. for the Swiss National Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research and for the Federal Environment Agency of Austria . She is a member of the National Support Group for Global Soil Week at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam.
Kurt worked for several years with the Joseph Beuys student Shelley Sacks, who co-founded and directs the Social Sculpture Research Unit (SSRU) at Oxford Brookes University in the UK. (The SSRU is the world's first academic institution for research into social sculpture in the sense of the expanded understanding of art since Beuys.) Since 2007, Hildegard Kurt has been an associate lecturer in the SSRU's advisory board in 2011 and from 2012 to 2013 Senior Lecturer for Social Plastics.
