Hilger Flamm

Hilger Flamm (born September 29, 1925 in Berlin ; † June 29, 2012 in Düsseldorf-Gerresheim ) was a German mechanical engineer and lecturer at the Technical University of Berlin .

Life

Hilger Flamm was born as the son of the shipbuilding engineer and former rector of the Technical University of Charlottenburg , Oswald Flamm . After graduating from high school in autumn 1943, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht as a fighter pilot . After he was shot down and taken prisoner by the Soviets , he spent years in the Vorkuta labor camp and was not released until 1952.

Flamm studied mechanical engineering with Walter Pflaum at the TU Berlin and then worked for the AEG . In 1969 he was appointed professor of thermodynamics, construction and technical mechanics at the Beuth Academy, which was soon absorbed into the Technical University of Berlin. Here he headed the laboratory for power and work machines and maintained close contacts with industry.

From 1980 he was department spokesman for the mechanical engineering course for several years.

Hilger Flamm's urn grave is located in Saarbrücken .
