The village of Himmelgarten is a district of the town of Röthenbach an der Pegnitz in the district of Nürnberger Land in Middle Franconia .

Geographical location

The village is located at the foot of the Moritzberg in a clearing, the surrounding forest area is bounded in the north by the district road LAU 19 , in the east by the state road St 2240 , in the south by the state road St 2405 and in the west by the federal highway 9 .

From the street LAU 19, which also leads to Röthenbach an der Pegnitz, there are two direct access roads to the main town. They are the main streets of the place with three dead ends.

A little separated from the main town, there are a few other properties immediately north of LAU 19, which also belong to Himmelgarten.

In the south of the village there is a small pond, in the east a riding stable. The pond is fed by a stream that rises in the nearby forest and flows towards Pegnitz .

history

The Himmelgarten manor is located in Himmelgarten.

With the community edict (1808), Himmelgarten belonged to the politically independent community of Wetzendorf . On January 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into the Bavarian regional reform to Röthenbach an der Pegnitz, while Wetzendorf was incorporated with Letten to Lauf an der Pegnitz .

Origin of the place name

Either it is an original field name for a particularly fertile piece of land, which was then transferred to the settlement, or it is a monastic-mystical name, possibly given by the nuns of the former Nuremberg Catherine's Monastery, which owned a farm there in the 16th century.
