history

In 1939 the Swedish Mission Church decided to start missionary work in India. In 1940 the first missionaries came to Bombay and Poona in Maharashtra State . In 1948 the work expanded to Solapur , where a health program was launched for the remote villages. In 1963 the Hindustani Covenant Church was founded. The first "moderator" was Pastor B. Thomas. The work of the church continued to expand. In addition to various social projects, church planting work was carried out in Karnataka (1968), Orissa and Uttar Pradesh (2000), on the Andamans (2001), in Gujarat (2002), Goa (2003), Jammu and Kashmir (2004), Andhra Pradesh , Uttarakhand , Himachal Pradesh and Haryana (2005) and Bihar (2007).

Social work

With a number of diaconal branches of work, the Hindustani Covenant Church tries to meet the social need it encounters in its work.

It all started with the health program in Solapur in 1948. In 1967 the Solapur Well Service was founded , an organization whose goal is the construction of wells and the manufacture of hand pumps. In 1981 St. Luke's Medical Society was formed to coordinate the Church's growing health work. The company has a hospital in Nannaj , Maharashtra state, and one in Aurad , Karnataka state.

In 2002/2003, the development aid organization Covenant Social Service (CSS) was developed, which uses a holistic approach to provide evangelism , literacy , medical care and social work, especially in slums and villages.
