Hinrich Lührssen

Hinrich Lührssen (* 1958 in Bremerhaven ) is a German journalist , author and politician . He was a member of Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) from June 2018 to February 2019 and was a member of the Bürger in Wut (BIW) voter community from February 2019 to April 2020 .

Lührssen worked as a journalist from 1988 to 1990 for the regional magazine buten un within the radio station Bremen . In June 2018 Lührssen became a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD). When the Bremen state executive co-opted him and two other members into the party leadership , his membership became public. Andrea Schafarczyk, editor-in-chief of Radio Bremen, then said that Lührssen's AfD commitment was his private decision, but that they now want to talk to him about what exactly he is up to. Lührssen justified his accession by stating that Bremen and Bremerhaven needed a “strong conservative force”. In January 2019, Lührssen applied as the top candidate of the AfD for the upcoming Bremen citizenship election, but was defeated by the state chairman Frank Magnitz . In February he resigned from the AfD after "internal party disputes" and joined the voters' association Bürger in Anger (BIW). He declared that the BIW stood for "a solid policy without machinations". At the end of February, the BIW elected him as the top candidate for the Bremen election on the proposal of the board of directors. However, he did not succeed in entering the citizenry.
