Hinrich Sickenberger (* 1955 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German artist who works in the fields of performance , video art , installation and painting .

Life

Hinrich Sickenberger came to Cologne in 1975 after two years in Darmstadt . He showed live performances, including 1976 in the framework program of FIAG, Paris (first "LOVE-SICK" version), 1979 at Art Basel 10 ( Transitorriness and Reflection I ), 1981 posing at the performance festival "Bei Lebigem Leibe" in Cologne and in 1982 Love-Sick at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin at the performance festival “Performance, Another Dimension”. In 1979, the 24-hour trial living together with MAF Räderscheidt took place in Cologne . The two artists lived in public in a shop window pavilion of the Karstadt department store .

Musical performance forms presented Sickenberger u. a. 1982 in the Kunstverein Cologne with a world premiere on the occasion of the "suitcase edition" and under the name KALA SIC (& Band) 1983 in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn and u. a. in the old waiting room in Cologne.

Hinrich Sickenberger was a member of the electro-pop group Gina X Performance from 1979 to 1981 . They released the recordings Nice Mover (1979), X-traordinaire (1980) and Voyeur (1981).

In 1981 Hinrich Sickenberger showed installations at ART 12 in Basel and at the International Art Market Cologne (now ART Cologne ), as well as in 1982 at the Photokina in Cologne. He also devoted himself to video art, which he showed in the 1982/83 exhibition "Video Art in Germany 1963–1982". By the end of the 1990s, he developed video stills, still images of previously filmed video sequences that were photographed on the monitor, which were edited and alienated.

Hinrich Sickenberger worked in the media sector (television / film) until 2001, initially as an editor / director, then as a partner in the PMC agency together with Ica and Michael Souvignier in Cologne. In 2001 he moved to Marrakech . Large-format paintings and drawings and digital art were created there. a. in exhibitions in an old palace in the medina for the Arts in Marrakech Biennale 2010 and 2012, at ART Ourzazate 2013/14 and at LES DEUX TOURS 2016.
