history

The company was founded in 1914 in Bregenz , Vorarlberg, by the 25-year-old master builder and carpenter Gebhard Hinteregger as a master builder. The expansion of hydropower increased sharply in the 1920s - the Parthenen powerhouse of the Vorarlberger Illwerke , the Latschau reservoir and the power plant tunnels and pipelines were built by Hinteregger. In 1938, Hinteregger founded a construction company based in Vienna.

The company G. Hinteregger & Söhne Salzburg then came to Salzburg in the course of the work on the large-scale construction project for the Tauern power plants in Kaprun and the location in Vienna was continued as a branch.

The company was shaped by Gebhard Hinteregger until the 1960s, in between the difficult post-war development work from the 1950s onwards was in the hands of Erika Brandstetter for over three decades. The concentration of companies in Salzburg and the positioning in the Austrian construction industry shaped this era. From the 1980s until the turn of the millennium, her brother G. Klaus Hinteregger took over the management of the company. The Hinteregger construction company is owned equally by the Brandstetter and Hinteregger families. In 2009 the company association consisting of G. Hinteregger & Söhne Baugesellschaft mb H., Dyckerhoff & Widmann Gesellschaft mb H. and Dywidag Spezialtiefbau GmbH was expanded to include Fehberger Stahlbau GmbH, which specializes in steel formwork construction.

The company was taken over by Porr AG on July 21, 2017.
