The Hinterhornalm is a private mountain inn in the Karwendel . It is located in the municipality of Gnadenwald , at an altitude of 1522 m above sea level. A. and is managed from mid-May to early November, depending on the snow conditions.
The Alm can be reached from the Gnadenwald district of St. Martin ( 890 m above sea level ) via a 6.1 kilometer toll road. It is the starting point for a mountain tour on the Hundskopf or for a walk to the Walder Alm ( 1511 m above sea level ), about 20 minutes' walk away .
Accesses
The Hinterhornalm can be reached from St. Martin via a path that shortens the hairpin bends of the toll road in about 1½ hours. A path for hikers and mountain bikers leads from the Vomper Loch over the Ganalm ( 1190 m above sea level ) and the Walder Alm to the Hinterhornalm. From the Halltal , you can reach the inn on a path over the Alpensöhnehütte .
Cycling race
The paved and a maximum of 14 percent steep toll road to the Alm is popular with cyclists. Every year there is a cycle race from St. Martin to the Hinterhornalm, the Hinterhornchallenge .
Almkreuz
A special feature is the Almkreuz a few minutes' walk above the Alm. The Russian-Orthodox style cross bears a Latin inscription on the upper crossbar: "Christ regnat" - Christ rules.
