Job von Dorbenck , also Job - called the Iron Man - (* around 1450 ; † May 25, 1521 in Riesenburg ) was Bishop of Pomesania from 1501 to 1521 .
Life
Job came from the Vogtland noble family von Dorbenck . His father was Johannes von Dorbenck, his mother a née von Zedtwitz . Job studied at the University of Erfurt . From 1489 he was provost of the Zschillen monastery . He was one of the envoys who prepared the election of Grand Master Friedrich von Sachsen and became one of his advisors. In 1501 he was elected Bishop of Pomesania, who had his seat in Riesenburg Castle since 1276 . In 1507 he took over the government of Prussia. He also continued to exercise his offices under Grand Master Albrecht of Prussia . He rejected the provisions of the Second Peace of Thorn . The humanist Helius Eobanus Hessus worked as Chancellor in the service of Job. Job von Dobenck was involved in the peace negotiations in 1521, which ended the equestrian war. He was buried in Marienwerder Cathedral .
