Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal OFMCap (born March 14, 1921 in Alappuzha , Kerala , † August 9, 2008 in Bharananganam , Kerala) was an Indian Roman Catholic bishop of Jammu - Srinagar .

Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal joined the order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on April 11, 1951 in Rome , where he also received his doctorate. In 1978 he was appointed prefect in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir . In 1986, with the elevation of the prefecture to a diocese by John Paul II, he was appointed third bishop of the diocese of Jammu-Srinagar . He was ordained bishop on June 29, 1986 by Cardinal Jozef Tomko , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop of Cardiff John Aloysius Ward OFMCap, and Bishop Cornelius de Wit MHM, Prefect of San Jose de Antique, Philippines. In 1998, Pope John Paul II granted his age-related resignation.
